Long story short. I "share" a blue heeler working dog/pet with my father in law 3km away. She lives here half the time, an inside dog here. She became pregnant in her first season, again long story. She is here and due to whelp soon. Vet is happy with her.

This morning, in the dark gloom before dawn hubby says..Di, wake up, I think Pretty has a pup.

Please congratulate us on the birth of a dirty work sock of his she had taken to her bed and looked like a pup lying there lol.

She is due at best guess in about a week or so. She had a split first season, was segregated here for that bit but father in law was not as observant as usual for the signs as his marriage was ending and he was having a painful medical condition diagnosed and the unrelated blue heeler male had some fun.

I hadn't seen her for a few days and did last Friday, thinking OMG NO!
Got to vet on tuesday, ultrasound and far too late for abortion shots.
I put my foot down and she is residing here with better diet and observation. I did not want her whelping alone over there if it was at night, in her night cage, here as I said before she is an inside dog. My dogs have always been male, my choice so I have now become an overnight google expert on what signs to look for etc if any trouble was to happen. Vet is very happy with me too.

Tanya, I already have a cat named stinky lmao.

I think one of the new pups should be called Socks. Keep us posted. (he is right, though, a new puppy does look like a rolled up sock)
