My CAG will be 6 yrs old tomorrow, just recently she started to have a weird smell to her. I've been giving her a bath everyday, I'm wondering if that smell could be hormonal? Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm not sure about Greys, but Amazons sure do!
A Grey owner will be along to enlighten us, I'm sure of it. :)

:bump7: I don't have a grey either, but the title of this thread made me hear it as Phoebe from Friends singing her song "Smelly Cat". :roflmao:

My female CAG never smells different or "bad" even when she's hormonal.

What does your bird smell like? Off the top of my head, I'd wonder:

-Any change to diet?
-Anything in the environment that could be the real culprit?
-Or, anything in the environment that is causing your bird to smell?
-Any health issues of your own that are affecting your sense of smell?

Good luck.

Greys can have a fruity smell, similar to the smell B&Gs give off, when they are really nervous (going to the vet) or when they get fresh air. I notice it in my house when I open my windows. I love the smell and wish I could bottle it. I think it’s fairly subtle.

BRING BIRD TO AVIAN VET ASAP ... unless you find lots of female CAG owners attesting to this and it is normal... but a smell can come off of people when they are sick, not dirty, but certain illlnesses can do it, so maybe it is the same for birds. Take no chances!

I got Paco a year ago and he reeked. His cage was filthy, once cleaned up, he smells like a parrot. I have no advice, I'm sorry. If the odor is odd, I would do a vet check as well. Hugs!
