I attended a presentation in St. Louis by my Avian Vet who spoke about new developments in bornavirus.

I remember the slide that says "worse case"...... that bird RECOVERED!

I went away from that seminar feeling that Secret didn't have cooties.

I posted in another thread that I asked the vet tech if Secret was positive can I bring another bird in? Her instant answer was no (like most of us would have said).

I told her that it seemed like I could from what I previously heard him say.

She said she would ask him, went to my vet and was told same room was okay, not same cage, it is not contagious.

By the way, after Secret suffered seizures the vet said she was positive but that unless the seizures continued, there was not a need for additional medication.

I think a lot more birds have this than people know.

In Secret, she had seizures after a stressful time. That was when the vet's tests for it came back positive.

Secret is at least in her upper 40's so who knows how long she has had it.

(FYI Secret is a DNA male blue-front amazon that was wild-caught. I've long referred to the bird as a "her" because it was the smaller of the 2 amazons I rescued)

Thank you for answering. Those slides were very informative and interesting. I appreciate you uploading them. I have a tad more hope now that Ariel will get better.
