Hi Jill,

I'm sorry to hear that Peaches isn't feeling well.

Not that this is any consolation, but my bird fell ill on Christmas Eve and was hospitalized by an emergency vet over the holiday weekend and the charges ran around $700 per day and that did not include any blood work or x-rays. It only covered the incubation, O2 therapy, a night of lavage feeding, antibiotic admin, and vet shift change rechecks.

I hope your baby is feeling better very soon.

I think this is outrageous. I am relatively new to the pet industry and practices. I debate over a 20 dollar co-pay with my doctors. There needs to be some regulation of this industry otherwise its highway robbery and completely unacceptable. Most people do not have thousands of dollars to save the life of a bird or pet. Pretty upset with the veterinarian emergency clinics as a whole. I have written to many NYS agenices and regulatory bodies on this issue which impacts all pet owners and of course the life of your pet.

Peaches (LOVEBIRD) saved

Hi everyone, I just want to let you know Peaches is healthy again. I posted a few weeks ago, she had injested something which she almost died from. I had both lead and zinc tests performed, which came out negative, however x-rays did show some sort of stones.

I took her to an avian specialist in New Jersey, After being completely taken advantage of by an animal emergency clinic in Valley stream New York which charged unbelievable amounts of money for her care I finally found amwell hospital in New Jersey via this site.

She was given a week long lasting anti-biotic, new food and metamucil. She is now back to herself, flying and playing and I think better then she was before she became sick.
I just want to share the good news!!!!
