I heard that some people shower with their birds and that they like it. What is the recommended temperature for showering? (In C if possible please) shower head height and how do you dry them afterwards?

Welcome to Avian Ave. I showered with my Rocky bird (RIP) and I haven't tried it with Sweet Pea yet. I kept the water comfortably warm for me. and Rocky would hang out on the towel bar. I would suggest starting slowly, let the birds make their choice to whether they want to get wet or not. make sure the toilet seat is closed so you don't have a accident/ drowning.

I also make the water a temperature that is comfortable for me. I don't dry my birds afterwards, I just make sure the house is warm and let them air dry.

i don't give mine a choice necessarily because they HAVE to be bathed and some weeks they do not want to bathe in a bowl for whatever reason. so each week i shower them. orion likes it. gabby likes being in there but not the direct wetting part. they are only under the actual shower briefly and then i wash myself carefully so as not to get soap on them and they sit there abd make noises and in gabby's case talk.

Make to to shower them in the the morning so the have the day to dry and you're not putting them to bed wet.

My tiels prefer misting over showering. If you want to give your tiels a go with showering, make sure they have a perching spot away from the shower head. Shower with them, you are part of their flock, they're bound to be interested. Move the shower head so it sprays gently close to them. Water drops and over spray will get them wet without a hard spray hitting them, which would probably scare them.

I like a hot shower, so when Milton (U2) comes in to shower (he's obsessive about water and showers) I turn down the temp. I wouldn't know the actual temperature reading, but it should feel lukewarm to you.

I will let Milty air dry, and he will preen his feathers as they dry, so they are "just so" to him. I know other people who blow dry their birds, though...and it's always better to shower birdies in the morning, so they can dry throughout the day.

Good luck with showering your birdies...:)

As other people have said, just be watchful of temp. If it's a little colder then warm, that's fine. Don't get any kind of human soap on them and do let them air dry. Some hair dryers can be harmful, and it's just less stressful for the bird overall. Also, shower perches are wonderful. I'd give one a try if your 'Tiels seem to enjoy showering with you. Good luck!
