Does anyone have any knowledge regarding the following procedures , steps , and / or cost involved for :

1. Shipping a avian (small lineolated parakeet (Linnie) )from Taiwan to the US?

2. Shipping from Taiwan to canada?

Any advice would be Extremely Appreciated.

Since Avian Avenue is just building members, this might be a difficult question.

But I'm giving it a shot hoping someone can offer something that will help. Yes, I'm aware in Canada there is a lot of red tape. I would perfer to obtain advice from the individals here and not other sites. We've got a pool of more highly qualified individuals for the most part I feel.

Any advice from anyone I'd be very thankful for at this point.

Thanks,
Trice

Yea, it sounds like a scam to me. It is very difficult to ship animals between countries. I believe you have to fill out a lot of paperwork and the country has to quarantine them for 3 months.

Dotty 4: I don't think so.

Delta has an international pet shipping program.

How can you be sure it isn't a scam?
Are they asking for money up front?

Why would you get one shipped from Taiwan? Can't you get one from the US?

as far as I know it is against the law to ship pets from one country to another UNLESS they are your pets already owned and you are moving there but you have to show a lot of paper work and stuff proving the birds are yours and you've owned them for a certain amount of time

I know the basic process is to fill out some forms, have it shipped over, and wait a quarantine period, but there are all sorts of requirements to help enforcement of the wild caught ban of 1992. It ends up being very cost prohibitive.

Everyone,

Thank you for your helpful comments. Jamieo I do appreciate the link. That's extermely helpful. I've seen some of the information contained in it but not all of it. Thanks for posting it.

No , money was not requested. I wouldn't wire any money for the shipping. I'm aware of scams on craigslist regarding avians and shipping. I'm just starting to take a look at the process at this point.

Thanks again ,
