Shipping bird feathers internationally?

A very random question...
I have a friend in the US I'm planning to send some artwork to soon. I know she LOVES feathers, and I'd really, really love to send her some of my budgie feathers too. If it's possible.
The art is THE priority so I'm not going to be taking any chances if it wouldn't be straightforward process.
Does anyone know if I can or how I do this? Again, I don't want to just include them and cause something to happen to my painting/drawing. I don't post stuff a lot to begin with so I don't know anything really about shipping things internationally either.

I would advise phoning customs = explain what you want to send and where and ask if there are any restictions you need to meet.
Here in Aust we are more restictive interstate than overseas when sending.
And we all know not to try and sneak stuff into the country - that is like committing treason.

As was mentioned above check with your Canadian post master. But according to what the USPS has to say you should be fine, since they are not Wildlife feathers that are protected.
