Sounds like your vet is really on top of things. I'm really glad you got the x-ray done - it's so important to know what you're dealing with.

Fingers crossed for little Iris tomorrow.

The vet called:

- She said she is looking much happier today with some more food inside her.
- They're putting her back under anesthetic very soon to try the first of the treatment options.

I'm taking the opportunity to take everything out of her cage and give it a good clean outside.

:fingerscrossed:

Just got another call.

The vet successfully collapsed the egg and the shell collapsed as hoped, meaning Iris has been able to pass most of it. She'd like to keep her in for a few more hours to see if the last bit will pass.

I know we're not fully out of the woods yet, but it's going the right way

She might like some warm mashed veggies spoonfed to her for comfort? :)

Another update-

We're home! She doesn't look great, but she's moving around a bit and she's trying to bite my finger as usual. I've decided to leave her in her travel cage tonight, she seemed reluctant to leave it anyway. She has also eaten since we've been back, although we were told she probably wouldn't. She's understandable exhausted but also looks pretty alert.

Here is a full list of what's been going on-
08.04.2021
Initial consultation
Fluids
Anesthetic
Two xrays
Overnight hospitalisation including tube feeding
Vitamin and calcium supplements
09.04.2021
The procedure (so more anesthetic)
Fluids
Tube feeding and medication

We've also been given oral antibiotics and oral calcium with D3 supplements. These will be administered tomorrow twice.

As you can imagine, the vet bill is rather large.

We still have a long way to go

Does anyone know how to obtain samples of pellets?

I'd like to try lots of different brands and flavours for Iris as her diet is still not great (although she's picking at chop a bit more now). I'm going to try a few techniques recommended by the vet and Harrisons, but I'd like a few types to try it with.

I don't mind spending the money, but I don't want to buy 10 packs of 200g to 500g pellet foods at £12 a throw just to find only one of them is liked!

If samples aren't possible, any other ideas on trially different pellets without spending huge amounts?

I was also wondering if I could get her on nutriberries as a full diet, but I think she'll pick out the seed and leave the rest...

You could ask your vet? They might have some?
Or find who the official sellers are for the UK and contact them?

The vet is calling us tomorrow with the results of the blood tests from last week (they took longer to process than expected) and I'll ask then. If not, I'll maybe contact Scarletts, northern and definitely the UK branch of Harrisons.

I'm not sure who the official lafeber dealer is here, I'll look into that.

Edit-
There is a lafeber international who I'll also contact, probably won't bother with scarletts or northern unless they say to ask them
