I'm north of Seattle and do not know too many avian vets. I use Dr Unapproved vendor and another female vet at the clinic in bothell and have used Kraft. But I remember when Opa got his left eye injury. The vet that initially treated him said they will have to remove his eye eventually. But when Unapproved vendor saw his eye he said it doesn't need to be removed and could be fixed (with 5K) as the lens have been moved. Opa sees blobs in his left eye a d bright light. But it doesn't have to be removed! So in my opinion, a second opinion can really help ease the heart.

Here's a link to Dr. Burkett's number...

Veterinary Advice - Ask Dr. Burkett A Question Today!

And here's one for Dr. Harris...

Avian & Exotic - Animal Medical Center - Miami, FL

Dr. Harris is my vet and we think he's excellent, but if I lived anywhere within 300 miles of Dr. B we would go there.

Thank you both for the feedback! We will try to do this today. You're absolutely right, a second opinion is well worth it as it has been very frustrating to think there was nothing they could do for her. Will let you know what comes of it but not likely until later.

Mercedez, my wife wants to pack up and go visit you and your flock! To many Too's to ignore!

Does Oregon or Washington have a Vet school with an Avian specialist.

I checked on line and it looks like Washington State University Vet Hospital has an Avian Specialist.

Another good suggestion, I am waiting on responses on the others since I've had to submit the questions via e-mail but may reach out to WSU next if we can't get a definite direction. Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts on this. Today Bella got her second shower from me and strangely she came out of it a bit louder, not a lot, but just to where she was trying to talk and sound a bit more "parroty". Not sure but seems like a couple of deep breaths may have moved something around in there. We are trying to keep things low stress for fear of her inhaling the obstruction with a deep gasp so I may steer away from the shower for a bit to keep her calm. I am going to jump for joy if and when I get to hear Bella scream at full blast! :)

I'm afraid that we'll do something wrong, it is a big responsibility whih we have gladly undertaken but we just want to do right by her. That being said, I really enjoy my time with her, she is a funny bird and seems to defy every description I got of her prior to her moving in with us. This "Aloof" bird as they described her, begs for my attention, let's me flip her on her back, and has quickly adjusted to our multiple tree sharing environment without much hesitation. She even climbs down onto the floor when the kids read their homework each night. It would be a tragedy to lose such a wonderful bird! I hope we can get an answer soon on how else we can help her.

You are doing everything you can do. I am personally so very aware of how precarious the situation is. But she seems happy and relaxed. Where would she be without you? We all have our arms around Bella and the rest is up to higher powers.
