What do y'all do when your goofy birds decide to start unscrewing their perches and toys? Buzzard has become adept at unscrewing quick links & wingnuts and they fall to the floor of his cage. How do I keep them in place so he doesn't wear me out repairing them, putting them back, or come crashing down with them? :faint:

We use pliers to tighten them.

Gisli was opening quicklinks, like he´d have it open within 10 seconds of me closing it, so I swapped them for others he can´t open.

I´m sure @expressmailtome posted a link he used for Michael for the same reason. I can´t remember what it was called though.

(I was almost sure it was Shezbugs thread, that´s why I tagged her before :) )

As for the wingnuts, I don´t know, but hopefully someone will have some ideas :)

I've seen those balls before but wasn't sure how well they worked or how to get them. Thanks!

Yes the ball toy hangers are absolutely great but no good for perches.... I have looked for really really long skewers to use for Burts swinging perches and I bought one from a different company but it is a bad quality in comparison to the ones expressmailtome posted.

For the perches, what if you swapped the wing nut for a regular nut? You would just need a small spanner to tighten it, but surely it would take longer for him to open that?

Not trying to sell myself but you may have some...

They fit through chain. Run the skewer through the chain, run the chain around the bar and run the skewer back through the chain. :D

For perches I have multiple nuts on the ones Korbel has to mess with. It's just no fun without the instant gratification of the perch falling when the first nut is undone. :p

And the smaller end is large enough to not pull through? That's pretty clever!

:idea2: That might be why double quick links sometimes works for Luv Bug.

We use pliers to tighten them.
Multiple nuts plus tightening them with pliers could do the trick! It might also keep me from changing them as often, but I'll take that risk.

They sell skewers that are 16.5in/42cm.

Over there they do but I have not been able to find them here and it is way to expensive buying things from the US and getting them shipped. The longest I have found here when I was looking were the 30cm ones. It has been a while since I have checked so I might have a look again to see if they have got the longer ones now.

Use nylon nuts, they're hard or nearly impossible to remove without pliers

Really? Couldn't nylon just be chewed through?

They're not made of nylon, they're made of metal but with an intern nylon band.

Oh you mean the locking ones that you really do need a pliers or a spanner for?
