Screened porch

We have a smallish covered back porch and are considering screening it in for our bird to use at times (not as a full time habitat). Has anyone done this and if so, what products did you go with? We know we have the option of aluminum or vinyl screens. Vinyl is usually thicker, obscures the visibility and blocks UV - all things I really don't want. Do you think an Eclectus would tear up a metal screen? - TIA

You’ll want to ensure your screens are bird proof and critter proof. If you have birds of prey the screening will need to be strong enough to keep them out- they hit hard!
If I was to do this sort of thing (even for my budgie) I’d definitely want wire strong enough to keep cats out and whatever other predators may be in the area.

Stainless steel aviary mesh, sometimes called clearmesh, is also a possibility. You can find listings on ebay for knitwire's products.

Or there's stainless wire cloth is possible too.

I have a screened back porch that I'm in the process of cleaning, repairing, painting, new screen and so on. I would love stainless mesh, but it is very expensive. If you have the money, that's the best product. You can find some other recommendations from the thread I started here. People had a lot of great suggestions!
