The thing I miss the most about having a dog is the requirement to get out of the house for walks even when I didn't feel like it.

Congrats!! What a precious babe! Shelties are great dogs. I've had three over the last 25 years. Easy to care for aside from grooming. Double coats shed, but brushing will help that. Back end, behind ears and elbows are areas that can get matted.

Hair between paws need to be kept up. Learn how to groom yourself and invest in a good dryer to blow out the undercoat.

Teeth, many Shelties are prone to needing routine dental cleanings. Start now with brushing those puppy pearly whites. I use pre moistened pads for my dogs teeth available online.
