His bottom beak sticks out to the right a bit, so the right side of it cannot rub against the top beak as it should.
Oh I see! It is a useful advice for checking if a trim is needed thank you!

OMG how do you get to be an exotics vet without being comfortable with them lol. Does she mostly stick to reptiles and bunnies??
My thoughts exactly!! I was a little too frustrated to ask the question:shakehead:

It's been so stressful. He's not a specialist but there is literally only one board certified avian vet in the entire state now, and of course not near me! Being up north limits my options even for "sees birds" vets dramatically.

I'm happy you found someone, too!
That is sad. So many parrots live in Michigan. Is the one certified one at MSU vet school?

No. She's in Birch Run/Frankenmuth. MSU is a 2.5 hour drive from me :(

He's a light little fellow isn't he :xflove: Nerd usually weighed 214, Lurch was 250/260, and the one time I got Dobby on the scale he was 260, all Maxi Pionus. Nerd was always skinny with a pronounced keel bone but he was happy and active for 31 years so skinny doesn't always mean they're sick or have issues. When they suddenly drop weight you have a problem.

Yeah he is usually between 200 to 208 depending on when he last ate. He didn't eat a lot before the vet so was a little lighter than usual. His old vet wanted him to 230! But I just ever get him there!
