My new cage came with 3 very large dowel perches. They’re not going to be in the cage, but I’d hate to waste them. Has anyone ever repurposed their dowel perches? I’m not creative when it comes to DIY at all, so any ideas would be great!
Never throw them out, use them out of the cage or cut them into lengths and make ladders or swings, cut into disks for your birds to play with or to use in/on other toys you make, take a knife to them and remove chunks to make a varying diameter perch.
I did that last suggestion from Shezbug! I used a pocket knife to whittle the dowel so it had random thicknesses throughout the entire perch then sanded it down with fine grit sandpaper. It's Tofu and Kimchee's favourite perch because it runs the length of the cage. They love to chase one another back and forth on it.
