Redoing floor..

We are thinking of redoing the subfloor and putting down vinyl tiles in the living room and kitchen. I am not familiar with the work/materials. Do we need to move Casey out of the house?

I am guessing it will depend on what is used but I am also thinking the vinyl may need some time to air out.
