Hello everyone!

I have a 25 year old Red-Bellied Parrot, Female, who weighs 5 oz. She was previously on a Zupreem diet (her old owners would change around which one pretty frequently) consisting mostly of sunflower seeds and small morsel seeds.

I have gotten a bag of Harrisons High Potency Fine pellets, and she seems to like the taste of them; however, she doesn't really like to eat them when they're in her cage (where her food is normally kept). I still offer her her old diet for a couple hours out of the day, so I know she's still eating. The issue isn't with getting her to like the pellets, it's with getting her to eat her portion on a daily basis, I've been offering her a tbsp and she'll eat maybe 1/4 of that a day.

Any tips/concerns? Thanks

There are lots of people who may chime in with suggestions but I would think that it might be easier to switch her back to the zupreeem pellets she is used to and then very slowly add the Harrison’s. Zupreem makes a decent pellet. My gray was on the fruit for many years

Yeah, I mean if ultimately she isn't for the Harrisons than that's fine. But she doesn't really even eat the Zupreem? Even the pellets she barely ate what was given to her, I truly have no idea how she got by with the little she was eating previously, especially because she picked through and just got the sunflower seeds. She is eating the Harrison pellets fine, just not the full TBSP I'm giving her. When I tried to slowly combine it over weeks with the Zupreem she just ignored them. But I'll definitely try it again!
