Are recycled corks safe? I keep seeing ads for "premium" recycled corks. My conures have always loved to destroy cork, but few toys have it.
An older BCC is moving in this coming weekend and the last thing I want to do is kill her.

Not if it's been in a wine bottle. Recycled from what?

Natural cork stoppers are like 20 cents each, and made with 100% cork. A lot of wine corks are made from agglomerated cork which is leftover cork pieces glued together. Then who knows about what the recycling process entails. My personal preference is to stick to the natural.

Submitted as evidence that cork toys exist!
I never said that none existed. I said "few" existed...especially for conures. Over the past several decades, I've spent bunches on cork toys. When another bird owner said he used these and sent me to that site with a picture of his Sun destroying one, I decided to ask here.

Thanks! My bad for not checking out your site!

Oh no I know I was just giving John a hard time

They might be totally fine, I just personally like to take out as many unknown variables as possible :)

Oh, I didn't realize you were bugging him. :lol:SORRY.

I asked because too many people, Chris included, give their birds anything! I just don't trust him as much as y'all. (That's a compliment from :wacky:.)
