do any of you guys have any recommendations for safe heat lamps, will be running it overnight, my bird is sick and my room temp reaches 17C at night, I dont want him to use any energy at night to keep himself warm.

I will be using this while also covering the cage with a blanket so thats a clear fire hazard, what can I do to avoid that?

thanks in advance!

something like this? looks safe from the inside I think. I will be sure to watch him throughly.
I can also cover the inside with cardboard if it turns out like the same fabric used for the opening, pretty sure it is but ill still cover it.

I use a heated perch and a space heater. All my birds have a heated perch at all times. And I’ll add the space heater if it’s cold.

A Ceramic Heat Emitter in a ceramic socket lamp is a cheap and easy solution, provided you can keep your bird away from it as the bulb and housing will be very hot

I second the ceramic heat emitter. I had one for Chirp after he got sick, and it helped him a lot (so he didn't have to use as much energy to stay warm)

im not sure where I can put the lamp, could I put it on the other Side of the cage? facing the wires of the cage, is that a hazard? could it burn the cage? the cage has plastic supporting structures on each corner, surely that's not safe right? I'm not sure what I can do in the meantime. thank you for the help tho!

I just set mine on top- the heat only stays in a small area, so the bird needs to be able to get under it. Just make sure you get the right socket for the bulb wattage- and one with a ceramic socket is ideal (@Mizzely told me why ages ago but now I can't remember! )

You would not be able to put that bulb into that lamp safely

Because we're talking specifically about a heat lamp you'd need to choose a light fixture with a ceramic lampholder. It would also need to be strong enough and secure enough to carry the weight of the lamp.
