Sprinting down the street
Today I bought a Swedish flower hen chick; right about the same age as Surprise and her sister. The chick came from a good local breeder, but 'Brella Bird is still acting off. Not sick or dehydrated, but slightly derpy. She stares into space, tries to eat her toenails, suddenly, out-of-the-blue jumps straight up, runs in circles, sleeps standing up or face plants into the aspen shavings. She reminds me, behavior-wise, of Derpella, a brain-damaged hen who I once knew. The serama babies are far ahead of her, and they're of a slower-maturing breed, even though they're the same age. Hope she's just transitioning. Crossing my fingers.
