I want to up my game as regards my budgies’ diet. I think they manipulate me to get what they want. Still don’t know who occasionally samples Nutriberries, but having had one budgie euthanized due to fatty liver disease (Cloud), I’ve had enough.

Been doing a lot of research & have come up with a plan:
  1. Crush Zupreem FruitBlend Flavour Pellets with a rolling pin in a ziplock bag
  2. Put daily allotment of Versele Laga Prestige Premium seed mix in a container & spritz with water
  3. Add powdered pellets & shake before serving it to them

Do you think this will work. Anything you would alter?

I couldn't say whether that will work or not but I share your concern over budgie health. I have a couple of hens that struggle with lipomas.

What works for me is the strict limitation of seeds - I only supply about half of the recommended daily intake for a seed-based diet.

The short-fall in nutrition is made up by liberal availability of veggies all day followed in the late afternoon by cockatiel-mix Nutriberries (these don't have the additives and carbs of the other flavours of Nutriberry. Again, about half of the recommended allocation of Nutriberry is supplied.

Regular weighing of the Flock enabled me to fine-tune the amounts provided.

Alas. I have had to withdraw sweetcorn, sugar snap peas and other high-carb treats. It makes me sad but not as said as weights spiralling upwards.

Do you have/can you get a little coffee grinder? Might end up being easier on you than crushing them by hand.
I wish I could suggest using vetafarm, it's a crumble and pre powdered most of the time.
Have you ever has success with sprouts and your lot? Hopefully you can finally get them to cooperate!

Ugh, are nutriberies that bad? I have them as an occasional treat throughout the day, as I thought they're better then just straight seed. Patchy usually bangs out a couple bites of his pelelts throughout the day but mostly likes eating chop 2-3 times a day.

Mine won’t touched sprouted seed. I thought Nutriberries were good, especially for recalcitrant budgies.

I would think nutriberries are much like almost every other option. Has upsides as well as down. Especially for budgies, even pellets have that.

Compare the ingredients of the various types of Nutriberries.
For budgies, the cockatiel mix is the most suitable one due to its minimal additives and calories.

I'm not suggesting there's anything really wrong with the rest of the Nutriberry range, but for budgies (and IMO) there's a clear best/only choice.
