I have been so busy lately. But luckily things are slowing down and I can share more pics of adorable Pi on his tree.

@fashionfobie I have a question for you (shocking, right? :p)
Is it possible to tell the gender (outside of DNA) of a plumhead if you don't know the age, or do you just assume Female until they suddenly explode with colour??

You cannot guess the sex of plumheads before they reach maturity, unless you run a dna test of either blood or from a feather. Basically you wait until they explode with colour all at once in a single moult. They do not gradually mature. They are in female plumage until their adult moult and then that distinguishes male and female. You remember Pi's transformation :) It was rather sudden! I did dna him though, so I was aware I was getting a boy.

I wouldn’t care if he had penguin butt either. He’s such a pretty boy! My black capped conure “Bob” got his name because he didn’t have any tail feathers when I took him home.

Hi Pi :swoon:

Two quick questions for you, Natalie.
What's the max bar spacing for a Plummie (technically asking about Slatys, but I know you'll know about the plumheads)?
Does Pi have a favourite toy/kind of toy? Asking on behalf of a little birdie :angelic:

Bar spacing is tough, because they do have strong beaks and are capable of opening things. So even though he would probably be better in a cage like my parrotllets in terms of bar spacing, I had go get a more sturdy cage... which happens to also have larger spacing. I would try to get something around 10mm for spacing.

He really likes finger traps. Teckechick bought them for him for Secret Santa last year and he has become OBBESSED! I stuff some nut crumbs into coconut fibre and put it in the finger trap. He also likes brittle woods or woven woody materials. Natural leaves are a big hit too! And ripping bark from branches!
