Yea, I was planing on drilling the centre so I could hang them on things :)
It´s a bit late to get the drill out, and I´ve just put most of the birds to bed, so I will give it a go tomorrow n let you know how it goes x

Speaking of easy bird toys, I just ordered some yucca chips to make my own kabobs. I’ve read a few horror stories in the reviews for the bird kabobs about birds getting stuck on or even strangling themselves in the ropes! Since my birds LOVE the kabobs, I still want them to have some form of them. Besides putting them on a ss skewer, do you guys have any other ideas I can use for these?

My birds love those too. I haven't come up with a way to use them other than the obvious but you could try staggering them like this. It's a chain with rope stuck through and knots to separate.

I have a load of popsicle sticks that I´ve dyed with food colouring... but I´m looking how I can make a hole in them without splitting them... I´m going to attempt drilling them as a chunk of them, I don´t know if that will work ...
No mater what you do some of them will split.

It's usually the one on the bottom that splits for me, but Aoife doesn't care.

Good to know! :)

It´s been too hot to even put clothes on (35 with hot wind) so I haven´t been to the garage for the drill. I will do in a little while!

I don´t mind a few casualties, as long as at least half get a hole I´ll be happy :starshower1:

@calibird I've been meaning to ask if the quarter inch notched pine slats like in my pic above is something you'll be keeping after your downgrade?

I also stick them into wicker balls.

Thanks for the idea :)
I checked out the cabirdnerds site after seeing the post about the sale. Wow! I’m in no way “crafty” but they sell everything I could need to start trying to be at least lol
I’m unsure which types of woods to try for my budgies, but those sale prices are so good right now I think I have a little of everything in my cart :shopcart:

I agree, the best thing to do is get a little of everything and make toys with all the different stuff and watch your bird and see what they play with :)
You can go back and order more of the stuff they like once you know.

Every one drilled well. I only did one hole in the middle. I used a size 4.

I also drilled a couple of caps to make some foraging toys, :)

I think I did too many......

Aoife's standard favorite is drilled in the middle and a while bunch of them strung so they hang horizontally.
