What type of fish do you think is the most underrated? Feel free to reply with your own opinion. To me, I think it's the common goldfish. The ones that you can get at a pet store for 40 cents each, or at a carnival for free. Although they are an invasive species if released into the wild, but it is the people's fault for releasing them in the first place, so I think they deserve better. A lot of people underestimate their maximum size and life expectancy as well. They can grow over 10 inches when kept in a large enough area, and can live ten to fifteen years (similar to a budgie's lifespan ) or even higher if in a pond or outside- 43 years being the longest living goldfish :), but many people keep them alone in small fishbowls because of their price and size, and many don't care if they die because there are so many of them. Therefore, they deserve a life just as good as the more popular fish species.

I agree with you! I love goldfish, they should only be in ponds

I don't have fish but did a lot of research so I think an underrated fish would be the kuhli loach!

I love fishies, and agree that goldfish are super underrated.

I also found that budgies are underrated (not on this forum, in the world..), so I'm gonna say that goldfish are kinda like the budgies of the fish world (relatively cheap, people think they're expendable, surprisingly long life for their size, and often kept in cheap, poor conditions)

Yeah, the goldfish definitely are underrated. They are so friendly too if you train them right. Another one I feel is underrated is the Chinese fighting fish. They get kept in those awful little cups in the pet stores!

Tetras. Small, schooling fish that can be finicky to keep but are magical to watch especially in larger tank schools of 20 or more.

Second is bettas for me ;)

Both are beautiful! I’ve never had a betta, but I have kept neon tetras the past.

Agree with this one I’ve got some pristella (X-ray) tetras and betta bettas half the time people keep in way to small containers
