We have had our U2 for 2 years. When we got him he was TERRIFIED of water. I made a post or two about it. He was terrified because in his previous place (3 previous homes from what I know) he would get sprayed with water for screaming. The screaming of which is because, well he’s a cockatoo and they love to scream. And secondly he was never allowed to come out of his cage. So he was lonely .
Anyway. Over the past two years I’ve been working with him in the water. Usually he stands on my shoulder in the shower and I’ll use my hand to mist him. Over the last month or so he’s been getting more daring. And tonight stood under the water by himself (on my shoulder of course) and didn’t even scream! He’s finally starting to shed that fear.
