Post Conure Adoption wants....

Well, after Pulsar died, I decided to take a look at some older cockatiels for adoption via Kijiji (Canada's Craigslist).

The cockatiels I'm interested in adopting: Their current owner gave me a HUGE list of what they like and don't like. Everything from nails to music is on the no-no list. She wants to visit, and she even wanted pix of my place. Feels like I'm adopting from a rescue rather than a family, but hey. I like that they're being picky! The two hens are 15 years old and crotchety. One likes to scream and is a total snot with separation anxiety. As I'm in the bird room almost 99% of the time, that's not a problem.

Will update when I hear more about the birds, Zippy and Cinder.

It sounds like she is being a caring owner that wants the best for her birds. I would be the same way but I do think most people don't want a perpetual visitor after giving a home to the birds ... unless you happen to really like her and you become friends.

Good Luck! I agree it sounds like she just wants the best for the birds. She is probably trying to avoid the "flippers" that respond to ads.

Be safe, but also it really warms my heart to see someone responsibly rehoming rather then setting their bird free or giving it away to the first person they see.

An update - The cockatiel lady's coming over on Friday to meet my flock! I have to meet her cockatiels yet. Don't know if she is going to bring them with her when she comes over. Before then, I have to give the bird cages an overhaul. I bought a handheld steam cleaner that should help with Yvon's (CAG) poop pile that is almost impossible to remove. I scrape it off and wipe it down, but poop is still stuck on hard. Let's hope the steamer helps!
