So we are considering breeding our canaries. We have two females and one male. One female is showing signs that she is ready and the male is interested in her. My question is should I separate the other female from them and just let them do there thing and return her when I separate him? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have $1000.00 on hand in case things go wrong and you need vet care?

Hello

I would see if the two hens are happy to build a nest each in the same cage. Pop in two nests and they will hopefully figure it out. Location is best away in the back corners up top. Some hens are simply naughty and get in the way...or pull each other's nesting material. 3 hens to 1 cockbird is the norm. If the hens wont let each other nest then id suggest just the pair. Hope this helps.

Canary breeding season is come and passed (unless you are in the southern hemisphere.)

It is time to molt them.

Remove any nest sites, and keep them on a totally natural day length cycle, up with the sun and down with it.

The reducing daylight should cause them to start molting.
