My AC went out and it’s 102° outside. The plumber brought a portable AC machine until he gets the parts for my unit. I’m scared to use it because I’m not sure if it has Teflon or emits ions. I googled the brand, Hisense, and cannot find information. Has anyone used a portable ac unit before?

I would say the unit is probably safe to use but I am not certain. Teflon is a problem when overheated or ingested...... I do not think (I could be wrong though) that your AC unit will be heating up significantly in order to blow out cool air. I have no idea about the ions side of things though.

@JLcribber might have more of an idea about this sort of AC unit.

You have nothing to worry about. It's blowing "cold" air. Even if there was some teflon in it somewhere it would need to be heated to over 400 degrees before it starts to off gas.

I've run a portable AC for years.
