For all those interested - Feathered Treasures Aviary has recently started breeding plum headed parakeets, at a fairly reasonable price too.
They have one female available right now.

I always find it interesting how differently birds are priced in different countries.

Maybe plum heads are more common in aviculture in Australia than the US.

That must be it then. Pi was around $250 AUD when I got him in 2019. He hatched in 2018.
