Please help us, I think Lily has prolapsed and we don't know what to do. There are no vets that are open until tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. Is there something that we can do until then to keep her alive?

The best things you can do is to try to clean the prolapse and put a mild medicine such as Bactine on it. Also keep her as quiet as you can so no damage occurs.

We've been using 50% vegetable glycerin to keep it moist. We got hit by hurricane Ian, and everything here is closed, including stores.

So we took her to a specialist, and they were able to remove the egg, and fix the prolapse. We are in no way out of the woods yet, but it's a start. We need all the prayers we can get right now. Vet said there another egg on deck, so we could be here again.

Glad you got her to the vet. Fingers crossed she does ok with the next egg and recovers steadily.

She made it through the night, and got all her meds this morning. She gets 2 antibiotics, a pain killer, and calcium. The vet did indeed give her a lupron shot among many other shots. She got the lupron, painkillers, multivitamin, and antibiotic. That's all while she was there so she got a lot of stuff done. They had to sedate her but luckily did not put her under anesthesia, so that was a lucky break for us. We sat in the car the whole time because we weren't allowed to go in with her, so we sat in the car for over an hour panicking. She has another egg present which was found after an ultrasound. So that is a possibility of her re prolapsing, so continued prayers and thoughts are very much appreciated. Thank you everyone for your support and prayers during this time, we need all we can get!

Does anyone know if lupron slows egg laying? The reason I ask is because the vet called today to ask if Lily passed the egg yet and she hasn't. But she isn't straining or acting off at all. I just want to know if I should be worried that she hasn't passed the egg on the 2nd day after her shot.

It does not slow the process. Keep a close eye on her and be ready to bring her back if you don't see the egg soon.

The vet called and said that if we don't see an egg by tomorrow afternoon, we're to bring her back in. So hopefully we see an egg today without incident.

UPDATE:
So we took her back to the vet, and vet said she looked so much better, and that is very possible that she just re absorbed the egg. Unfortunately we're not quite out of the woods yet. She's acting...off. She's tired, which could be the needs, but might not be. And her peeps sound off too. Like just not as loud. We still need your prayers and positive vibes sent her way, as she's just not up to what she was. Any advice would be appreciated too.

Lily is doing a bit better today. She must've gotten a good night's sleep, because she woke up bouncing off the walls! She gets all her favorite fruits and veggies early now and she loves that. Come to find out she loves pineapple! She's still not peeping quite like she used to, like almost not at all, but I heard her this morning clear into the kitchen when I was cutting her stuff.

Thank you so much for your support during this!

She's still quiet though, and we still need the heating pads on her. So we're still worried for her.
