Hello, everyone! I am getting my first cockatiel tonorrow. He/she is 8 weeks old and I was told that it was a grey pearl so I was wondering what it may look like when its adult features come in and how to tell its gender when it is a year old. I tried googling it but i keep finding images of the gray cockatiels with yellow heads and red checks and mine is just white and gray. Thank you for all your help!!

Welcome to the forum! Your baby is very cute.
They look like a regular white face to me! If they keep their current coloration once mature, they’re a female.

I’ll attach a photo of male & female wf’s:

Just a normal whiteface! No pearl.

As mentioned, if the face gets white as the little one matures (starting around the 4-6 month mark for most, some could be 8-12 months), then you have a male.

If coloration remains the same, female.

Might be able to tell via vocalizations as well around 4-5 months old.

Whiteface but not pearl. If they are male then a pearl white face will end up looking like a regular white face male anyway. Only female pearls stay pearl but yours is not a pearl as there are no pearls. You should let the store know I guess.

Good Luck on your new baby.
