Yesterday I bought the weekly supply of veggies and fruit for the birds. :)

Except I bought some things that weren't labeled properly so I have NO idea what they are or if they are bird safe!

Could you guys please help out with this? :o:

These were just labeled as "Asian".

They are two different plants as they came from two different piles and their stem colours are different too. If it is bird safe, what parts do I feed?

These were labeled as "Beans".

What type of beans? If it is bird safe, what parts do I feed? Can they have the pod as well as the beans inside?

This one wasn't labeled at all! I think it is a Custard Apple?

If it is bird safe, what parts do I feed?

This one was labeled as a "Sweet Chilli".

It is huge! If it is bird safe, what parts do I feed?

Thank you for all help! :highfive:

The first one is Bok choy, usually sauteed ,stir fried, or steamed. It should be juicy inside. Not sure if they will eat it raw.
The 2nd looks like green beans. Cut off the ends, and serve them raw, or steamed.
Not sure of the third, but most likely you will want to cut off the skin and remove all seeds.
The last is a red pepper, it is most likely quite hot. You can let them eat any of that, but the seeds are generally discarded.

Ooooh, thank you both for the help! I've learnt something new today! :D

So with the Bok Choy and the Collared Greens, do I just feed the leaves?

I give the entire collard green - some eat the stem part some don't but all my birds LOVE the leaves, When i wash them I shake them off over the sink but leave them a little wet, My birds love taking a bathing on it while it's hanging on the cage and some (mainly budgies) attempt to Bath and Eat at the same time lol

Yummy, that looks great. I did not know that was a sweet, it's probably yummy then too. I was going to say, about the bok choy, yes, all of it. Now down here in the south, that cook collards all day with pork in it.I am not a fan...:p

Yummy BF!!! That looks delicious!

Ok, so I will not feed that fruit thing to my birds to be on the safe side. I'll just eat it myself. :) (Oooh, I hope it tastes good! It was expensive!)

Thank you for all the advice! I'll chop some of those greens up and the rest I'll just keep whole and hang around the cages!

If they haven't seen this before, play with the ones you are going to hang in their cages BEFORE you give it to them....you don't want them afraid of it...See how interested they are in the greens...some birds will "flip out" if something like this is put in and they don't know what it is....:hug8:
