Sometimes a hen will lay an egg with a wrinkled egg shell. It's a normal egg inside, but what causes wrinkled egg shells? And are wrinkled eggs safe to eat?
My hen Silvermoon started laying shell-less eggs in her later years. The membrane was still tough enough to hold the yolk and everything together. It was a weird jelly ball egg, we didn't eat those- probably could have though. I personally haven't had wrinkle eggs, but I agree with the pocketfarm blog that @Mockinbirdiva posted. Especially since it is such a big egg.
@fashionfobie it is a massive egg- poor chook.
In he past when I had chooks I did get some wrinkle eggs and also some of the jelly ones you describe.
Aren’t chickens fascinating?
