I tried searching this topic please link me if this has been discussed. Moki has a ton of pin feathers coming in and of course I googled but it was a bit vague about WHEN I should be helping to remove the casing. When I pet her they are very visible but when shes just standing normal I hardly see them. Do I wait til they are obviously sticking out? And then squeeze them with a nail?

I pet Henry a bazillion times per day and when there are pin feathers I always concentrate on them He will let me know if it's too soon and painful by squawking. So, have at it and your baby will let you know.

Birds are pretty good at managing to preen all over on their own, sometimes with the aid of a perch or toy. But if you want to help you can offer more bathing opportunities, and if you want to actually preen your bird, do so very gently :)
