So idk if anyone here is familiar with keeping birds of prey like accipitriforms ,owls ,falcons or seriemas but I would really love a pet pigmy falcon , before someone comments , in my country you dont really need a falconry permit (at least thats what I think) and hunting with raptors is illegal so it is techically gonna be a pet , I do know that the bulk of their prey is small insects and rodents ,but I am ok with feeding those to it , theres also one kept as a pet on my tiktok fyp who seems like a decent pet, according to the owner , he is kept in a small aviary but spends most of its time free flying in the house

Raptors can only be kept with a special licence in Australia.
These are mostly only issued to people who rescue injured or starving birds and have avairies as big as houses for them.
As the Pigmy Falcon is smaller than what we have here a room size avairy might suffice.
You would need to be able to access a regular supply of crickets, mealworms and pinkies, and you would need a falconers glove for the bird to land on. Because small or not those claws are designed to rip flesh.

I would ask you to really think about if you can provide what a falcon really needs. They are not "pets". I adore Pygmy Falcons. I think they are the cutest birds. But they are wild creatures who deserve the chance to hunt and fly. My understanding is that falcons should live in mews, not cages. And falconry is a skill that needs to be learned, studied, etc. If you want to learn falconry, perhaps there are groups in your area where you can learn. But again, a falcon, any type of falcon, isn't and shouldn't be a "pet".
