Pickin Chicken

I live in the suburbs and have a couple of neighbors who have chickens. So I am planning to get some of my own. I live in hot and sunny Florida so I need a chicken that can handle the heat, of course the coop will be shaded by my orange trees and they'll have plenty of water. What would be a good breed? I'm also wanting to get egg layers, I have lots of kids that like to eat eggs as well as myself. Any suggestion?

I do not know we always had bantums a little smaller eggs they were use to the heat in the south Alabama the also took out the ticks
