Have you used phenobarbital?

How did your parrot respond to the seizure medication?

Did your bird have any odd reactions, like a runny
nose on one side or the shakes?

Our macaw was fine, just really sleepy. There is no correct dose, really, they start small and increase the dose.
Anna,
It really helped my vet when I documented every seizure. The time it happened and what happened BEFORE (including what was happening around the house, noise, etc), during, the amount of time the seizure took and after. Describe what you see at all stages, write it down. It is really distressing when it happens, so it is hard to remember after a couple of hours.

I have a blank journal. I will keep it next to her cage.

The right of her nare started running about a half hour after she started taking it and she acts cold.

Popcorn has been taking it for years now and her seizures have stopped completely. They were going to start her on two doses a day, but we found that one dose was all she needed to control the episodes.

As Danita said, try to write down everything that happens, I went numb everytime Popcorn would have one and just held her with tears in my eyes and it was hard to describe all of the details to my vet. It's scary when they don't recognize you and they have no control. She was always "out of it" for hours after each one. Make sure you have Kerbears cage padded until you find the correct dose that works. Did you get the medicine flavored? I get mine from a compounding company and they make it in peanut butter flavor for popcorn. Now it's more of a treat everyday.

Anna know that there are other people here that have gone through this and we are sending you and Kerbear big hugs.
