I mean, if you are going on an extended trip or moving, flying with parrots is not super unusual. It is usually only done domestically, though, and I believe Puerto Rico is a grey area since it is considered a territory. My friend @parrotfish flew across the country with his GCC to move here. There is a $100 fee per bird. You can also ship parrots out of Puerto Rico using USPS- so not sure why she hasn't considered that option? But it is riskier. With airlines, it is always important to call ahead and ask, though.Wow what a mess she’s got them into.
Pretty sure there has got to be more to this story but that might just be what I think given this situation is so odd and just crazy to me, we here in Aus just don’t automatically assume carting pets everywhere is ok (not allowed most places) as it is not normal. We don’t have laws for nor do we legally recognise ESAs thankfully, those rights to have animal assistance are solely for people who actually need service animals to live or function and their animals must be trained registered and approved by a special board and they are allowed any place their human goes…. that also would not include birds, pigs, other barn yard animals etc- service dogs are about it I think.
I hope they find a way home sooner rather than later.
I watched the tv clip. She was so sweet....Great News![]()
