Hello,

I have a 6 month old Jenday Conure(Mango, wings clipped) and a 3 month old Female Sun Conure (Zazu, flighted)

They are caged separately and supervised when they are out together. They preen each other, the Jenday conure seems to try and feed the Sun Conure without regurgitating, one can’t be without the other unless they scream their head off. But Mango seems to be pushy And obsessed with Zazu, constantly wants her attention, to preen her everywhere, cuddle her and even will push her head under Zazu’s wings, belly and butt.

The only time where they don’t pay that much attention to each other is during training, playing with toys or eating.

However this morning I was looking at Zazu under her left wing Ive noticed some plucking and bare skin. I believe Mango has been plucking Zazu.
Any suggestions on cause or what should be done?

There was another thread about this (similar). They are super young to be doing mating plucking. I would go with @Monica suggestion to make them forage for their food. Lots and lots of toys and training.

How do you know the one is plucking in the other in a plucking case the first thing you always do is take him to the avian vet to make sure there’s no physical problems

Can you confirm if one is picking/over-preening the other?

If this is the case, you may need to separate them for a bit and work on foraging and more enrichment.
