My 25 year old CAG, stopped talking and whistling. Appetite down and then last night noticed breathing looked like it changed. So at vet right now waiting in the parking lot for news about how he is doing. I'm posting here for support. Trying to pass the time, I'm so worried. Staff said he is not critical. Please keep us in thoughts as the time passes. Thank you all so much. This group has supported me through another parrot I had and I am forever grateful to you all.

There is comfort knowing he is not critical. You noticed and reacted quickly getting him to veterinarian.

Its so hard to be waiting on diagnosis. Hopefully will come back as minor issues easily treated. So you can enjoy many many more happy years together.

And when you guys are safely back home treats for everyone !

Thank you soo much for your reply. I just checked on him, staff said he isn't back on perch, but is looking around and responding to being spoken too. Vet is in surgery and they are waiting for him to calm down and reduce his stress. I was afraid of not getting to the vet in an hour, I looked at my cell phone gps to make sure I didn't miss the building, when I looked up a car was stopped in front of me and I hit the brakes and he fell off perch. I just added to his stress. He loved the car ride and got some sunshine. Right now I just waiting for them to see him. Thank you.

Wishing Paco and you all the best. I hope whatever it is is minor and easily treated.

I’m so sorry :( I hope everything is ok. He’s still so young, maybe it’s just a passing funk

Sitting in the exam room with him, they want to do xray, and light anesthesia to keep him calm, but either one could kill him or I can put him down. It could be respiratory infection or enlarged heart. He is trying to nap right now, bad diarrhea. Probably from stress. Please keep your post coming, it helps me more then you will ever know.

I'm so sorry to hear that he's feeling so poorly. I hope the xrays are able to be done safely and the problem is able to be found and addressed to get him feeling better.
