There are much better and actually qualified trainers and behaviourists out there that don’t charge a heap of money to teach you something the best way.

Birdtricks are entertaining because that is exactly what they are.... entertainers - not bird behaviourists or specialists of any sort.
Do some more research on them and you’ll find all their cut and shut very expensive content either for free or costing much less and presented by a qualified experienced behaviourist. You could possibly even find all the information you need and want right here on this forum if you search enough - info on BT and the content you want to best engage and teach your bird ;)

Before anyone tries to take my head off for being ‘negative’ about BT’s..... I have had personal experience with them and I still do actually watch Jaime and Capri sometimes as I love their birds. I was hooked on watching them before I paid a good whack of money to learn nothing from them, but, I did have a really good chat and I never did get the full consult time I actually paid for :(
Then to top it off I found bits of information here about things and I followed the information and names of real behaviourists till I found some stuff that made me realise that BT were not only not qualified or experienced but were not even giving credit to those who’s content and information they borrowed without permission.
I normally stay quiet about this stuff and my experience with them when I see newer members pushing and praising BT’s simply because I understand that they’re the easiest to find and watch when you’re new to birds and training. Plus I don’t want to sound awful by dumping on them or disagreeing with a new member. It’s got to the point where I simply can’t stand to sit by and watch anymore as others have their money taken from them like I did by Youtube stars just because they don’t know the information doesn’t have to cost that much and there are actually qualified people available to everyday people like us.
I mean any books/ websites you can suggest would be great:)

Shes a very good talker for a macaw as well
She says alot of things and picks up on things relatively quickly
As in the video I call winston "boo" and she says hello boo or come here boo lmao
She also says my gf Melissa's name, my name and her daughter ella's name in just a short period of time haha
One thing tho Macaws can pack a very good bite but u can read there body language quick good but takes times to know when they dont want to be touched
I'd rather get accidentally nipped by my pitbull when he gets playing rough then get bite by my macaw but it does happen lol
And a scarlett does have a bigger beak and seen some nasty wounds they have left

I look at it this way on how it feels getting bite hard, it's like slamming your finger on a dresser door or car door if u get bite hard
It's only happened once but it was the first few days bringing her home and interacting with her and not reading the signs lmao

I don't have a macaw but you may can learn from my mistakes with a baby bird. Starting from Day 1 offer a variety of healthy foods. Don't allow them to con you out of people food or eat from your plate. Make sure you socialize your baby with new experiences. Everything is new to a baby it just seems they except change better than a older bird. Harness training, travel cages, different people, will make it easier on you and your bird. Try using a emery board on his claws to get him used to claw maintenance. I would also read up on household dangers for birds. Teflon, candles, most aerosol sprays, I bet there's a thread that covers dangers. Still want a bird lol? Good luck!

I do think ppl make more of it then keeping things simple
It's like us humans we want to keep healthy as possible but life can change no matter the best possible circumstances
As myself I ate clean foods, I mentioned this in another post I am a bodybuilder that use to compete and ate relatively great and diet was completely good for 10 years bodybuilding
Ate the same stuff 6 times a day
Alot of chicken and rice
Anyways I got diagnosed with hopkins lymphoma 8 mmonths ago and currently almost done chemo treatment
They said the cancer cells are gone at my half way scan so crossing fingers after treatment it's still gone
Point being there is dangers in everything
Try your best to eliminate possible dangers like teflon pans and such but dont get obsessed over trying to eliminate everything or worry about the small things
I think ppl go way to overboard on owning a bird when us humans suck in air pollution everyday, eat greasy hamburgers, pizza or drink beer lol
I myself get caught in that trap cause like everyone they want the best for your animal as I am a big time animal guy myself, but just enjoy your macaws company and do the best u can to eliminate possible dangers but just dont obsess over it or it'll drive u crazy haha
