Hey guys I'm the new mom of a 14 week old Hahns macaw.
My Jasper nibbles all the time on his food. How do I know if I'm feeding him to much? I know they drop a lot bit just want to make sure I keep him healthy

You monitor weight and body condition. An adult bird eats 10 to 20% of their body weight daily, and do tend to eat small meals often throughout the day.

Monitor weight by scale and yes, feel the keel bone as above in the diagram. But at only 14 weeks, if you’re finding that he’s pretty heavy then I encourage a vet visit. I don’t like babies under a year on “diets” so to speak. I leave that up the the people who chose to spend an extra 2 years educationally looking at bird poo professionally. There are a few reasons why babies can be obese at an early age and not all are food related.
