When I arrived home from work this evening, I noticed a single drop of blood outside of Opie's cage and another one inside. I let him out of his cage, and the only thing I can see is what looks like a rub on the tip of his keel bone. Since he has no feathers, he can get scraped and bruised easily. Funny thing is, the spot on his keel although a bit swollen doesn't look as though the skin has been broken.

Is there anything else I should be watching for?
Vent looks OK
Beak looks OK
I can't see any blood feathers

Check cage and toys for sharp spots.
Its possible he is moving towards self mutilation. Put a pet camera on him and his cage to check for this while you are away.

Has there been any home disturbance or stress changes?

Hopefully just a bump on something and all fine.

Oh no poor boy. Hopefully it was just a small scrape to oozed a drop or 2 then stopped and all will be well now.

He tends to ramp up when he gets hormonal, but hasn't needed his collar since May 2021. I have pet cameras on the birds, but this week and today were very, very busy at work.

I have removed one toy that he has half destroyed--and it now has some poking parts. I didn't see any blood on it, though.

I hope so, too!!
