Today is one year since my best friend died (Major 16yrs old). We were one. You can never be replaced. (I can't believe I'm crying typing this) :-(

So sorry. I know the feeling all too well. On January 3rd it will be 5 years since Annie went to Heaven. She was a 14 year old chow/malamute. She spent most of her life with me, even went to work with me. (Semi-retired truck driver here.) I still cry when I think of her.
She is the brown dog. Princeton passed at 14 years too a few years earlier. Heaven is full of my babies waiting for me.

I remember when Major came into your life. It was an emergency, but you weren't altogether sure how to make it work out, and you were asking advice.
Well, he turned out to be 100% a great buddy and a once-in-a-lifetime companion.
I'm glad you had that time together, you made the most of it.

I also remember your inheritance of Major.
How that ended up with you having a close and loved companion that you never imagined.
Many of us truly understand the loss of such a dog.
They worm their way into your life, and leave a huge hole when gone.
I'm sorry you're feeling the loss so greatly today.

Sending you big hugs John, unfortunately it doesn´t get easier, even as the years pass. The love still grows.

Having a dog will give you the best days of your life, and one of the worst.

It's a hole in the heart that just never closes, and it shouldn't. We leave it open to remember the memories of what joy they gave us. This too, makes me so very sad for you because I know that feeling all too well.

I'm so sorry John! :(

I can and it would be wrong if you didn't. You lost your best friend. Not a dog, a pet or a replacement animal.
Only people like us, that value them as equal and as family members will understand the difference.
Many comforting hugs from me! ♥

It's hard. I can't believe a year has already passed?!

I refuse to remember sad dates. Too many years ago I lost my best four legged friend. Occasionally I have dreams of him. I think some of his things are still here, somewhere. I just couldn't relinquish them.

I know how it hurts but take comfort in the good memories.

I remember the snuggles.

So sorry john....always hard on the anniversary of a pet...I can surely relate to that as I have 4 of my past dogs and 5 of my past birds buried in our pet cemetery. Told wife think it's time to move, we lived here too long. Yesterday was anniversary of sparky passing, and poppers passed a day before that.
