Olive trees and lovebirds

Hey everyone!
I recently decided to move so my birds have their own room ( i was living with friends from uni).
I got them a little olive tree for their room, does anyone have experience with that? They seemed to bite the leaves so i put the tree away untill its declared safe... Internet says olives arent ok but idk if they mean the fruits on the trees or the salty pickled olives from the store...
P.S. Training goes amazing, they learned to fly towards me after just 3 months

This site lists it as non-toxic;

Keep in mind that you will need to have any live trees in a larger plantpot where the soil doesn´t come up so high so you can put lots of large rocks or stones on the soil to block access and avoid your birds digging (for safety, not the mess).

Processed olives are unsafe, but olive plants are non-toxic.
