Since this section has been a bit of a ghost town lately I figured I may as well share some photos of my gorgeous god-parrot: Miss Oskey.

@Sadieladie1994
I foraged about your facebook page for these pictures. I hope you don't mind my sharing them with the avenue.

Vasas are sooooo beautiful!!! Honestly a greater Vasa is probably my dream parrot..
And it may be the only parrot I'd rather have a female.. Usually I prefer males because they don't lay eggs.
But with the males particular.. erm.. organ.. I feel like I'd be more comfortable with a girl. :p
Is she loud?(Like, compared to an ekkie or a sun. I know what those sound like.)
Whats her temperament like? I've read tons and tons about them but I'm really curious to have an owners opinion! :D
(Sorry to bombard you with questions.. I'm just really curious! Hehe)

I am so glad you found her pictures and posted them. I have not been on much due to my broken arm/shoulder and typing was hard.

They are delightful birds. Pet loves eating, being with people, eating, snuggling and playing. Much quieter than an ekkie or sun. She has moments of being loud every couple of months but that is it. Instead she wimpers like a puppy when she wants attention.]

Pet is a great flyer. She will fly place to place on a steady flight but she can go really fast when she wants to exercise. She can hover and turns sharp corners. :D

For a parrot she is pretty easy to keep being not overly demanding but providing affection. Just make sure you feed her LOL.

She knows to stay away from the ekkie as the ekkie will raise feathers and charge if Pet gets too close. They can be out together though. The scarlet was a bit afraid of her as Pet would do fly bys close to the Scarlets head. Ben is now ok and Pet knows her boundaries.

The flight suit has arrived. I am able to use my arm more now so will attempt to put one on her I will let you know how that goes.

Vasa's love baths any time and more than one time a day. I will mist her but she still bathes in her dish. She will bath in any dish of water she finds so one must be prepared! Oh they will bath in dust iv available if found.

That's awesome!! Maybe near the end of this year/early next year I can look more into finding a breeder(I imagine finding a re home here in the US would be slim to none.) since around that time I'll be moving into a house and can give plenty of space to let her fly around. :D

There're are very few birds that are as wonderful as a VASA. What a joy to have in your life. Thank you for sharing.

Before I got my second sennie I checked with Scott at Old World Aviary for a vasa, but at that time his breeders hadn't done anything this year. They are super cool birds.

As far as I know he hasn't had babies in at least four years. This is how long I've been on the waiting list anyway. I'd wager he hasn't produces in longer than that.

I was on the list with Old World waiting for a Vasa. I ended up seeing 2 at a local avery. The birds were about 1 year old and required socialiizing. Several years ago I saw one for resale. That bird was just delightful, laying on his back playing with a toy. When I went back the bird had been sold. No hesitation this time. I agree, you don't see them often but there are a few breeders out there.
