After looking in every single grocery store for nuts in the shell, finally the stores are getting them in for the holidays. Neither of my birds are big on shelling them, but I try to get them started so they at least have to work a little bit to get their treat. Does anyone know if nuts will freeze well and if so for how long? Or would they be better in dry storage? I liked to get some to last a while especially if they have them on sale.

I have heard of freezing them too. I don't feed enough nuts to have to stock up. One of their mixes contains brazil, almond, walnut and peanut (out of shells) so I try to limit the amount they eat.

I do start their almonds, brazil and walnut or pecan in the shell though :D

Thanks for the link. It has just the information I was looking for! I try to limit the amount of nuts they get each day, but like hiding them around their cage or wrapping them up in coffee filters for them to forage for while I am at work.
