We've got 3 or so days to go! :egg:

I did candling about a week ago, unfortunately the fertility wasn't great, but I kinda expected that due to it still being early in the season. So there's still 9 eggs out of 21.

Very exciting!

I’ve recently massively downsized my poultry- sold the turkeys, all my excess Brahma, and just today the peacocks.
i will however miss hatching season. It’s so cute and so stressful all at the same time!
goodluck!

A perfect description... for me it's worth it though

I think Brahmas are such stunning chickens, I'd love to have one some day!

I hear no peeping which concerns me a little, but I can still feel some kind of movement inside :fingerscrossed:

Congratulations! :heart2:

Those mesh hole seem a little large. I may try to add some paper towel of something whilst Sunny waits for her siblings so that her foot doesn't get caught :)
I agree the holes are quite large, putting paper towel down is a great idea! I've already shoved some in a few large gaps.

@fashionfobie do you like to use medicated chick starter? I normally use it but realized today I forgot to buy any, I have unmedicated (for the quail) which I can give for the next few days till I get my regular stuff.

I don't typically use medicated. I would use at your discretion. It could help protect against some illnesses, but can't say I am an expert on it.

I just read a great book on chickens that explained how chicks get a lot of immunity when they forage with their mums. They gets exposed to stuff in little bits. Not related to your situation, but I just thought it was cool. You read about how mammals get immunity from their mothers via nursing. I never thought about it via chicken mums. Chickens are wonderful.

I think I've just used it cause it the brand I always use, but again forgot to buy some so only have the quail's stuff.

That book wouldn't happen to have a title, would it? ;)

A lot of the content is depressing since the author is a poultry advocate. So it discusses all the horrible things humans have done to these beloved birds.

If you are interested in this topic, I suggest it.
