Accidents happen! There is no way to completely avoid them forever. It sounds like you are doing exactly what you need to be doing, for you and for Cookie. Just love on her, she knows it was an accident.
I'm just glad she is ok; now you need to relax and be thankful all is well in Cookie's world.

The important thing to remember is when something like this happens you have to try and remain calm, Cookie was feeding off of your emotion. Now that you have calmed down, she was able to calm down.
I have enjoyed your posts and it is apparent that you care about you birds so stop beating yourself up.
