I've noticed over the years when hiram gets warm food.Like oatmeal or his mash all warmed up he will sometimes take it like he's just a chick. Not sure I'm wording this ok.It's not everytime but alot of the time!So why would he do this? Was he weaned early and it carries on through their lifetime or is it hormonal?ok if this is a silly Question just ignore it.:lol:He just looks so sill when he does it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with him. Truely sometimes will take warm mashed potatos like this. It must be some kind of instinctive reaction.

It's a natural, instinctual feeding response. Warm "gruel" = regurged food from parents.
Our birds do it....from our baby (2 year old) Green Wing macaw, to our 21 yr old grey.

Leroy our eleven yr old African Grey is still liking her warm sweet potatoe and being fed off a spoon as a treat especially on cold nights. I call it spoiling time and if we don't do it who would?:D

It's kind of like comfort foods are to us :) I still get nostalgic when I smell fresh tortillas or beans and rice like I used to come from school and smell my mom making.

Jasper does this with warm foods also. I have never seen Tango do that though. I always figured it was because Jasper was weaned to early.

All my fids do this, from the 22 y/o bcc down to the 18mos old gcc. They start 'begging' when they see me bring the bowls of warm mash and then they do a head bob kind of thing when eating. They don't do it all the time, but they do do it. I think it's cute :)
