Norbie's hearing....update

So, I took my english budgie, Norbert~Thomas, to the vet today. I was concerned about his hearing. Seems like he doesnt hear so well anymore, and I wondered if it was just from his age, 9 years old. But, turns out, the poor little guy has ear infections! She said both of his ears were inflamed and had some crusty stuff in them. What the heck? I've never heard of that. So, we have ear drops and also two meds to give him, for a week. Hopefully that will take care of it. But, has anyone ever had a bird get an ear infection? What a surprise that was. So glad I took him in....

awww poor NOrbie..and yes, they can get ear infections..in fact DqTimenhs Itsy just got over a bad one.. @DQTimnehs many hugs and healing energies for Norbie...and treat us to a picture too!

Yes, Itsy has had an ongoing or recurring ear infection. It would leak fluid and swell up. She was on antibiotics, anti-inflammatory meds and finally, ear drops along with a/b. She seems to be ok now but I keep watching as it has come back before and the fluid was tested and found to be resistant to all 21 a/b's. It may be the ear drops being more concentrated in conjunction with the oral a/b did the trick this time.

Wow, poor Itsy! That sounds painful. Im glad we got the drops right away then, along with the a/b's. I'll let you know how he does...poor guy.
